Bangkok's taxis

Over the last two years fleets of new taxis have been taking to the roads of the city. Bangkok's older taxis came in either yellow and green or claret and blue colours; there were a few other independent companies but they were rare.

The new taxis fleets come in bright solid colours. The cars are all locally made Toyotas; the new taxis are bright and clean; the drivers are capable and the fares remain one of the world's great bargains. Do leave the drivers your change; these guys do not make much money!

Check out the batman logos and the yellow hub caps on this old style yellow and green !

New style blue

Red and Whites - these were the first of the new generation of BKK taxis and have some of the most courteous drivers

Always easy to see!

More usually seen at the airport - the old style estates.

Tuk tuks on Silom

Running repairs to an old yellow and green on Saladaeng

Older style claret and blue - still a very common sight.

A favourite - "taxis see som" bright and cheerful!

Racing down Silom
