This is the latest in the steady trickle of CMFC news: once again I need to add that there is nothing official from the club or from K. Sand. In this case the source is ThaiLiveNews on Facebook:
Unofficially, a deal has been done involving an undisclosed investor and Mae Rim based Christ FC who will run the club and manage the squad.
The undisclosed investor is reported to come from Brazil. He, she, or they has, or have, committed to purchase CMFC for three million baht. This will be paid in instalments of around Baht700,000 each.
CMFC’s total debts are reported to be around 8 million baht including wages and amounts due to Kelme. These debts will apparently be cleared by K. Sand.
Mae Rim Wittayakhom School based in Mae Rim collaborates with Christ FC to develop football based and school programs for “dream come true” professional football players.
Clearly we have to wait for official announcements of who the parties are and their responsibilities.
But if K Sand has refused to make any sort of payment of CMFC debt in the last six months the question must be whether he will now meet those obligations. His track record does not inspire confidence.
The Dispute Resolution Chamber of the FIFA Football Tribunal and the Court of Arbitration for Sport have established case law to protect players against abuses and retaliation by clubs that do not comply with their primary obligation to pay the player’s salary. A number of cases have been taken by CMFC staff and players to FIFA.
FIFA review individual cases and can order clubs to pay outstanding amounts plus compensation and/or interest. FIFA can also issue a transfer ban against individual clubs. If payment is not made then FIFA can sanction a club from registering new players – whether foreign or domestic.
There is a link here to recent Thailand cases heard by the DRC.
A press release and press conference could go a long way to ending the uncertainty. Together with confirmation of receipt of funds by the club’s creditors.
Then we can all focus on football…at last.
20 July – there is still no official news from the club, the League or from K. Sand. If a deal has been done for CMFC why is there so little news….
The latest I have heard is that our beloved K. Sand has to clear all the debts by the end of July.
He also needs an agreement from individual players that all debts are cleared.
If he does not make payment then he also needs to get a consent from the players about debt mediation.
So on that basis I assume no instalment of the Baht3m will be made until after 31 July.
Any clarity would be very welcome.
